How It All Works

House Teams vs League Teams

House Teams (Preschool-U10) Preschool-U7 do not participate in any league or game play beyond their practice times. U8-U10 will play friendly games against Squamish or Pemberton, usually on several Friday evenings throughout the season. The schedule is released in the Fall.

League Teams (U11-U12) play in an interlock league which is a sub-league of the BCCSL league designed to give the younger players a taste of game play without travelling long distances from home. These teams play games in Whistler, Squamish and in West and North Vancouver. All games end in November. Boys’ teams play on Saturdays and Girls’ teams play on Sundays.

League Teams (U13 - U18) play in the BCCSL league under the Sea2Sky Soccer banner with weekly games played throughout the lower mainland. Boys’ teams play on Saturdays and girls’ teams on Sundays. Some teams will end their league play at the end of November/early December and others will play through to March. This is decided on a team-by-team basis each year. Our Player Resources has links to the different Leagues in the region.

Kids are grouped by birth year

Depending on how many players we have at each age group, some groups may have one or two birth years combined so that we can ensure a fun and quality experience for each player.

The age group break down by birth year for this FALL can be found on our Age Groups table.

Each team is different

We are a relatively small soccer club and each team is managed independently by their Coach and Team Manager, under the overall guidance of WYSC. League participation is determined by the WYSC Head Coach, but participation in additional events and tournaments is determined by individual team management. Please keep in mind that our Team Managers and many of our Coaches are volunteers.

We rarely have select or rep teams

It is important to note that WYSC's goal is to place every child who wants to play soccer on an age-appropriate team. We rarely have more than one team per birth year. Often we combine two birth years to make a team. All players will be placed in the appropriate team for their age. If your child is keen to play soccer at an elite level, or even just at a higher level than their age-appropriate Whistler team, they will likely need to play with a bigger club in the Lower Mainland. Talk to the WYSC Head Coach if you have questions.

Communication

The main way your player's Coaches and Team Manager will communicate with you is through TeamSnap chats (on the app only) and emails (in the app and to your registered email). At the start of the season, the WYSC Administrator will add every registered player to their proper group on TeamSnap. Once this is done, you will receive an email invitation to join the group. (N.B. This email will only be sent to the email address that was used to register your child for soccer.)

Please accept the invitation and download the TeamSnap app so that you don’t miss important communications.

Once you have accepted the invitation, you can add your child's other parent or guardian to the group on TeamSnap and fill in any missing contact information.

Please be sure to indicate your player's availability in TeamSnap for all practices, games, and events. Your player's Coach spends time preparing each and every training session and the activities they choose will depend on how many players will be at practice.

Our Head Coach, Mark Freeman, can usually be found on the field during all practice sessions. If you have any questions for him, please see him after the session or email whistlersoccer@hotmail.com.

What is Sea2Sky Soccer?

All WYSC League Teams are registered in their leagues under the Sea2Sky Soccer name. This designation acknowledges the many Pemberton players who are part of WYSC.
